Last week on Casualty the ED said their final sad goodbye’s to Duffy. Archie and Rash’s cases almost mirrored themselves as Archie treated an RTC patient and Rash’s patient was demonstrating for safer roads however there was more than met the eye on both cases meanwhile Connie was struggling with the loss of Duffy
The episode began with David, Robyn and Jacob taking good care of Charlie who understandably struggling not only with greif but with a feeling he had in the back of his mind, he couldn’t put his finger on it until Duffy’s funeral car arrived he walked away unable to cope with his guilt that he let Duffy down by being unfaithful to their vows and by being happier for both of them now Duffy was at rest. David reassured Charlie that his feelings were natural and told him he couldn’t walk away from Duffy now. Scenes then showed not only Charlie’s struggle but those around him as it cut to Connie, Rash and poor Robyn who was sat in the funeral car in tears.
A woman called Taylor Addams was admitted to the ED after rushing away from her boyfriend Gavin’s house. She had fractured her ankle and was said to be pregnant however was hiding the loss from Gavin. Archie initially thought Taylor could be the victim of domestic abuse however Connie dug out the truth and it was Taylor who abused Gavin. Taylor manipulated Gavin into taking her home, luckily they didn’t make it far before Gavin collapsed from septic shock.
Connie was dressed all in black this week in respect of Duffy but she didn’t attend the funeral, despite Archie’s best efforts she pushed questions away as to why she wasn’t going. Duffy’s funeral car arrived and all the members of the ED went to pay their final respects to Duffy, Connie briefly stepped outside but was struggled to cope and returned to the ED.
Rash was treating a patient called Nial he was at the ED after he’d slipped and fractured his arm whilst demonstrating with his friend Lil for safer roads after her daughter had been killed in a hit and run, walking home from Graduation. Nial later admitted that he was an alcoholic and further tests that confirmed Nial had coronary heart disease, Nial started to panic and as his guilt crept up on him he told Lil he drove the car which killed her daughter, he then went into cardiac arrest he was resuscitated.
The episode concluded with Nail and Taylor getting arrested after their deceit, a heartbroken Charlie returning home alone whilst Connie continuing to struggling with her guilt at not being able to say her final goodbyes to Duffy.
